Online poker has become globally famous as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the bank rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no bluffing or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the croupier declares "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the different gamblers are given five cards each. After you have observed your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to either make a call wager or bow out. The call wager’s value is equal to your original ante, meaning that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes directly to the casino. After the wager comes the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, with an amount on par with the original bet. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The casino pays out chips equal to your wager and fixed odds on your call wager. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for 2 pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
