Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
