Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
